Tuesday, November 25, 2008 at 12:00PM Due to my travel schedule I never get to see new Top Chef episodes on Wednesdays (My Salt Lake City home doesn't have BRAVO). As a result, I catch the midnight encore after I arrive home Thursday night. After seeing the preview for next week's new episode, I became confused. Foo Fighters*? Judging? This can't be right. Not after this podcast I caught earlier in the year. Be warned, this may not seem like a big deal at first, but after watching, laughter and/or a puzzled look may ensue. Enjoy!
*Foo Fighters- an expression used by WW2 pilots to describe fireballs they would see in the sky. The French word for fire is "fue". This was than transmuted into "foo".**
**In American English, we often write commas or periods within quotes. Originally, these were intended to be outside of the quotes, which is much more intuitive. After the Revolution we started going inside of quotes to be different from England (and consequently India).

This ended up not being a terrible episode. Great use of System D and the teams were closely matched. Most importantly, while their opinions were taken into account, as the customer must always be satisfied, the Foo Fighters were not judges. Grant Achatz of Alinea in Chicago was present [as a judge]- which is always a treat.
